Kelly Clarkson Celebrates 14th Anniversary Of Winning ‘American Idol’: So ‘Grateful’

It was a moment like this. Fourteen years ago today, Kelly Clarkson won the inaugural season of ‘American Idol,’ so to celebrate the huge milestone, the Grammy Award-winning singer paid tribute to the hit FOX show on Sept. 4. See her sweet message here!

“14 yrs ago 2day @AmericanIdol opened a door w/such amazing opportunities & experiences 4 me!” Kelly Clarkson, 34, wrote on Twitter on Sunday, September 4. “I am 4ever grateful & blessed! #heresto14more.”

As most of you know, Kelly, who was 20 years old at the time, was crowned the first-ever American Idol champ in September 2002. She beat out runner-up Justin Guarini and performed an emotional rendition of her debut single, “A Moment Like This,” in front of judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson. (Watch the video below!)

Since then, Kelly has gone on to achieve ultimate superstardom! Not only has the music icon won three Grammy Awards, but she has accumulated 100 Billboard No. 1 hits. She has also toured around the world more times than we can count, released a Christmas album, gotten married to Brandon Blackstock, and welcomed two beautiful children — daughter River, 2, and son Remington, 4-months — into the world.

And earlier this year, Kelly signed a long-term recording contract with Atlantic Records after having spent 15 years with RCA Records. Kelly, obviously, has a bright future ahead of her — one that will at least be as successful as the last 14 years have been for her. That, we can almost guarantee!
